Perhaps it's a good question why I'm putting any of this stuff here at all, since it's probably not going to impress anyone. Maybe it's just to show users new to POV-Ray how my early experiences went. Most of these things were really experiments, which eventually ended. |
My Basement:
As mentioned in my Introduction, this was perhaps the first real scene that I ever did with POV-Ray, and it closely resembles my basement. Here is the version with no post-processing (adding of lens flare, blurring, etc.)

The Shed:
This was started shortly before my Radio Graves IRTC entry. I played around with Gilles Tran's MakeGrass macro, and did some iso-surface wood experiments. I also created some milk-cans (without handles) and started working on the corn-field, which I eventually used in Radio Graves.

Basement Radios:
Shortly after completing Radio Graves, I decided to be funny, and throw all of the antique radios into my an early scene that I had done of my basement.

Beans:
During the summer, my mind turns toward gardening, so it only seemed fitting that my summertime POV-Ray experiments relate to my gardening. Here are a couple views of different implementations. I ended up using the second implementation for the beans in the Beantoad.com logo. Gena Obukov created POV-Tree by combining Tom Aust's TomTree with a Java program, which now allows us to create great trees easily and quickly. I wanted to see just how versatile it could be, so I used it to create the bean plants. I live in a rural "farm country", so I seem to get a lot of inspiration for things like bean-fields, and corn-fields.

The Snowman:
This was really a way to learn about iso-surfaces, but I ended up making a snowman. I started working on this some time in October or November of 2002 (just before the shed). I was quite happy with the way the snow turned out, in general, so I'll probably use that same technique in an image some other day.
